Virtual Therapy
At times you may find it difficult to make it into an office while juggling various responsibilities. You may also find it easier to try therapy and open up to someone from the comfort of your home.
Online Therapy Services, simply put, refers to providing counselling and/or therapy services remotely using telecommunications technologies, such as video conferencing, phone, or email to assist individuals in improving their mental and emotional well-being.
Our therapy sessions are conveniently provided over secured and encrypted video, and all appointments are scheduled on an individual basis for dates and times that work best for you!
Online Therapy is for you if:
- you want to engage in therapy from the comfort of your home or while traveling
- you have an incredibly busy schedule
- you are juggling various responsibilities
- you are a parent of a young child/children
- you can’t make it into an office
- struggle with anxiety and find it difficult to leave your home
- are uncomfortable with the risk of being seen walking into an office
- are in a place where in-person therapy is limited or not available
In order to participate in online therapy, clients must have fast internet and a webcam. Although online therapy can be conducted over the phone, we suggest video calls to allow for a visual encounter.
Online therapy is not suitable for all individuals, issues, or circumstances. Please schedule a free consultation and see if online therapy is the right fit for you.
Emergencies and Technology
Assessing and evaluating threats and other emergencies can be more difficult when conducting online counselling than in traditional in-person therapy. To address some of these difficulties, we will create an emergency plan before engaging in online services. Usually, we will not engage in online counselling with clients who are currently in a crisis situation requiring high levels of support and intervention. If you are in crisis and require immediate support please call 911 or go to your nearest Hospital Emergency Department.
Privacy and Security
Privacy and security is extremely important for online therapy. We have been highly selective in choosing a private and confidential video conferencing service and personal data storage platform that have an encrypted connection and are both PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) compliant.
