Narrative Therapy

“What is your story?”

Imagine you are the hero of your own life instead of the victim. It is likely that the story you tell yourself depends on your mood. Are you aware of the stories you tell yourself?

Narrative therapy is a style of therapy where there is an emphasis on the stories we develop and carry with us through our lives. As we experience events and interactions, we give meaning to those experiences and they, in turn, influence how we see ourselves and our world. We can carry multiple stories at once, such as those related to our self-esteem, our abilities, our relationships, and our work.

Stories organize our thoughts, help us find meaning and purpose, and help us to establish our identity in a confusing world. The goal in narrative therapy is to uncover opportunities for growth and development, and understand ourselves better.
